Food (and my waistline) dominates my livelihood and it remains a pleasurable part of day-to-day life! As a member of the Guild of Food Writers, I still dip in and out of commissions and projects. I hope my passion is reflected in my food and creates results above and beyond the ‘school dinners’ we all remember!
BREAKFAST 8.30 – 9.30am
Our cooked breakfast offering is infamous and you won’t be disappointed. And it follows other favourites including homemade fresh fruit compotes, juices, cereals, yoghurt and nuts, or warming porridge, cream, molasses and cinnamon …
You’ll be spoilt for choice, but with so many happy hens and ducks laying eggs I have to ‘crack on’, offering eggs in many guises from eggy bread through to fluffy omelettes and Eggs Benedict. These are accompanied with locally produced dry-cured bacon and sausages supplied by The Cotswold Farmer, black pudding, buttery mushrooms (sometimes devilled or creamed), slow-roasted ripe tomatoes and grilled halloumi – and so it goes on. I drive my ladies mad adding variations to the theme!
If you google the ‘Women’s Institute jam-making’ you will see why I am so lucky to have two wonderful W.I ladies who keep my shelves regularly stocked with delicious seasonal marmalade, jams and jellies.
AFTERNOON TEA WITH HOMEMADE CAKE
Tea and cake goes hand-in hand with staying at a B&B! The kettles is on and cakes await your arrival from 4pm – 6pm and on most days for the duration of your stay. I lay it up in the downstairs school hall and it’s a great opportunity to meet fellow guests over a cuppa and enjoy Lemon Drizzle cake, freshly baked scones or other tea-time bakes. If the weather is good and you would like to take your tea outside, grab a tray, we've got plenty of seating outside.
Once or twice a week, for a minimum of six guests, and subject to my availability, I enjoy cooking dinner for guests. I do have to pace myself during the very busy season but can let you know when I am cooking.
Advance notice is required to ensure I have additional help at hand. Please click on the buttons below to see this month’s menus. If you have a special dietary need, please let me know ahead, thank you.
