TripAdvisor award for best B and B in the UK and Europe 2018

Welcome to The Old School

Welcome to our home, built in 1854 by Mr Hinchman, a local brewery owner and Victorian philanthropist. Once a thriving village school that closed in 1996, it became a day nursery until 2007 when John and I purchased this iconic building …. and so our exciting new adventure began.

The Old School B & B is an award-winning ‘home-from-home’. It is welcoming and friendly with some fascinating school-day nostalgia within its old walls – for example, quirky door handles, classroom doors and exit signs – but, thankfully, very few school rules! Take a look at our video below for a ‘birds' eye view’ of our home

Set amidst the glorious north Cotswolds in England’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our home is a haven for you to relax, refresh and revive, ready for another day discovering unspoilt sleepy villages, soaking up the atmosphere of honey-coloured bustling market towns or staring in awe at the wonderful buildings and fascinating sights in historic Oxford, Cirencester, Warwick or Shakespeare’s home town, Stratford-upon-Avon.

For you to appreciate why I'm passionate about our home and your stay in the beautiful Cotswolds, I recommend you read some of our wonderful reviews from guests and browse through the pages of our website. Very little ‘homework’ will be required, as I hope I will have provided most of the answers to your questions – and, of course, the ‘headmistress's’ office is always open for a chat once you are here!

With best wishes,

PS: We know how important it is for many of you to have access to the internet when you are staying with us, so please be reassured that there is free wi-fi throughout the house.

Dear Guests

The Old School Bed and Breakfast closes its school gates for the last time on 12th September 2021. The house has been sold as a private residence and I am moving on to new adventures and a career as a Professional Celebrant whilst staying very local to the north Cotswolds!

It has been such a pleasure to caretake this old school. John and I loved our total of 14 years here and meeting so many lovely guests – many of whom are now friends – from across the globe.

Thank you so much for being a part of our story and helping to make this an Award Winning success. We certainly needed lots of stamina – but with such a great team behind me, it was fun and didn’t feel too much like work….

So, it was an absolute privilege to welcome you here and also to showcase this largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England. Please don’t stop coming -- the Cotswolds thrives on tourism…..

Stay well,

With all good wishes
